The Practice

The Coastal Villages Practice covers the Broadland and coastal areas to the north of Great Yarmouth, from Caister in the south to Horsey in the north. To the west the practice area extends as far as the River Thurne and southwards to the River Bure. The practice serves a resident population of over 18,000. During the summer the practice population increases considerably with visitors to over 33,000. There resident population increases by about 2% each year.

Historically the villages to the north of Great Yarmouth were involved in agriculture and fishing but in more recent times there has been a considerable holiday and residential development along the coastal strip. Many people now commute to Norwich and Great Yarmouth, many are employed in the oil industry and there is an expanding base of people moving to the area to enjoy retirement.

The practice has grown by the amalgamation of individual village practices to become its present size. Patients are registered with the practice most local to them. To keep a high continuity of care, our doctors and nurses work on a site basis. Even if you are asked to attend another site, you will mostly likely see your usual doctor.
