CLASS 1 – Who we are and what we do
The Coastal Villages Practice comprises 4 surgeries:
- Hemsby Medical Centre
- Martham Health Centre
- Ormesby Village Surgery
- North Caister Medical Centre
Information about the doctors in the practice, surgery locations, opening hours and services provided can be found elsewhere on our website: www.coastaldoctors.co.uk on the NHS Choices website:www.nhs.uk or in the Practice Leaflet available at Reception at each of our surgeries.
CLASS 2 – What we spend and how we spend it
The Practice is contracted solely to the NHS through Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust to provide the personal medical services referred to in Class 1 above.
Our contract income in 2008 was £2.9m from which the Practice pays for staff, premises, dispensing drugs and all other day to day running costs of 4 surgeries.
Our accounts are audited annually by PKF[LLP]UK
CLASS 3 – What our priorities are and how we are doing
The Practice strategies and planned priorities are focused on service development through Practice Based Commissioning and our membership of the Yarmouth Consortia of practices set up for this purpose.
Services provided by the Practice are managed under the Quality and Outcomes Framework[ QOF] – a national system of performance indicators incorporating Patient Surveys - the results of which are published on the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk
Annual NHS Performance Inspections and Reviews with officers of Great Yarmouth and Waveney PCT are arranged for:
- QOF
- Dispensing Services Quality Scheme
- Information Management and Technology
Additionally the Practice is IS9001 Accredited – an internationally recognized standard for organizational quality. This accreditation is subject to annual inspection and review by Bureau Veritas.
CLASS 4 - How we make decisions
The decision making process of the practice is centred on the weekly meeting of the Partners, supported by the Business Manager and Operations Manager.
All service development proposals are discussed with the Patients Forum – which comprises members from our local Parish Councils – before consideration at the Partners meeting.
CLASS 5 – Our policies and procedures
All Practice policies and procedures are contained within the IS9001 Manual with the exception of the Patients Charter which is included in the Patient Information Leaflet – available at all Reception desks.
CLASS 6 – Lists and registers
The Practice maintains various medical registers required under QOF but as these contain confidential patient information these are not available under the FOI Act.
CLASS 7
The services the Practice provides under contract to the NHS are referred to in Class 1 – above.
The Practice also provides limited non NHS services – such as medical reports – for which a charge is made.
